Car insurance that rewards good driving.
Train your app challenge.
HiRoad is a behavior and usage-based auto insurance company. Customers get a maximum and minimum premium that fluctuates monthly based on how much and how well they drive allowing them to earn discounts and rewards each month. Driving behavior is tracked by an app on the customer’s phone.

Roles
My role for this feature refactor was Lead Product Designer.
The team consisted of a Product Manager, Project Manager, Copywriter and mobile developers for both iOS and Android. We also consulted with our Data Science partners.
The Challenge
Customers are required to set the correct app permissions during onboarding and complete the Train your app feature before they start to see monthly savings benefits.
We found that many drivers were not setting correct permissions or completing the challenge.

High level flow redesign
GOALS
The project’s goal was to redesign the feature as an engaging, branded experience that clarified the value of choosing the correct permissions and completing the challenge by…
Increasing the number of drivers with recorded trips
Increasing challenge completion rate
Decreasing the time to complete the challenge
Decreasing calls to CC
Our redesign focused on:
Updating the content and flow to clarify key tasks
Adding animation as a feedback tool to emphasize task completion
Separating permission settings from the Train your app flow
Adding mobile notifications that allowed the customer to categorize trips within the notification
Updating Branding
Train Your App - updated experience
